Bringing weather and climate to life for young people

Long-term client, the Met Office wanted to help young people better understand the impact of weather and climate on local and global communities. We helped educators bring the subject to life for 7-14-year-olds with a range of materials, from bitesize activities to hands-on experiments and longer lesson plans.

Working in conjunction with a steering panel of teachers across the UK, we gathered insight, developed strategy and branding, and created materials covering a range of topics from fake news and climate change, through to extreme weather forecasting and prediction. To encourage students to consider a career in weather and climate, we also produced a series of videos that take you behind the scenes of life at the Met Office.

99% of teachers rate the programme as good or very good. Their feedback shows the programme is helping students to build their research and evidencing abilities – both key STEM skills – while continuous evaluation and re-evaluation of the programme ensure it’s achieving its goals.
